Holiday jewelry: more is more is more

We see the holidays as one big, sparkly invitation to have fun getting dressed, and jewelry is the fastest way to say yes! Maybe you want to layer five necklaces. Maybe you want statement earrings and a statement necklace. Maybe you want a cocktail ring on EVERY finger. Or maybe your perfect party look is one perfect paper crown. All of it counts!! This collection is holiday party jewelry for the office party, the dinner out, the open house down the street, New Year's Eve, and the nights you dress up just to watch a movie on the couch. Start with good bones, then dress it all up

Some of our favorite holiday outfits start simple and let the jewelry take over:

  • Jeans and a sweater, plus a pile of layered necklaces on the top
  • Jeans and a great top, with chandelier earrings and a stack of bangles
  • Trousers and a tee, with a chunky collar necklace and a cocktail ring or three
  • A big ol' ball gown skirt with a graphic tee, and pearls on pearls on pearls

What makes jewelry feel "holiday"

Sparkle does a lot of the work, but it's not only about the glitter! What reads as festive is scale, shine, and a little color. Layering multiple subtle pieces can turn them into more of a statement, and pairing statement earrings with a statement necklace is decidedly festive. The best holiday jewelry still works in January, which is why we skip the novelty stuff and pick pieces you'll wear again.

Fun ways to wear holiday jewelry

  • Mix your metals. Gold, silver, and a little rose gold all at once is extra sparkly - go nuts!!
  • Layer pearls with chains. Classic meets a little edge.
  • Try a brooch somewhere unexpected, like on a coat lapel, a sweater shoulder, or a headband.
  • Wear a bracelet over your sweater cuff so it actually gets seen.
  • Or match two bracelets on each arm as sparkly cuffs.
  • Do a ring party. Stack them, spread them out, or wear the biggest one you own.
  • Match your earrings to your eyeliner, just because it’s fun.
  • Pull out that piece you've been saving. The holidays are the occasion.

FAQ

What jewelry should I wear to a holiday party?
Whatever makes you feel festive! Layered necklaces, statement earrings, a stack of cocktail rings, or one sparkly favorite all look great with jeans and a sweater, trousers and a top, or a full skirt and a tee.

Can I wear statement earrings and a statement necklace together?
Absolutely. It's one of our favorite holiday looks.

How do I layer necklaces for the holidays?
One fun way is to mix lengths, textures, and metals: something close to the neck, something mid-length, and something long, like pearls, chains, pendants, or charms. But there's no formula. If you love how it looks, it works.

Can you mix gold and silver jewelry?
Absolutely. Mixing metals means more sparkle, and more sparkle is the whole point of the holidays. Toss in some rose gold while you're at it.

What jewelry should I wear on New Year's Eve?
All of it! Pile on the sparkle, wear it with a tee, and add a crown or some glitter freckles if the mood strikes. It's the last party of the year, so go for it.
