The Second Edit: Pre-Loved Pieces From Our Closet

Small city closet, BIG fashion habit. This is where we sell pieces featured on The Mom Edit once we've run out of room for them. Most have been worn a handful of times, all were bought with our own money. Readers have been asking us to do this for years, so…get in loser, let’s go shopping. ;)

Why We're Selling Our Own Closet

The reality of running a fashion blog from a downtown Philadelphia rowhouse is…space. Space - or lack of it - is always a problem. Pieces will come in for try-ons, for posts, for “research”, and many of these pieces have to actually be worn a bit before we can fully recommend them (making them unable to be returned). And over time, these pieces have piled up. No matter how cute, there’s only so much shelf space and hooks by the door, ya know? For years, readers have asked whether we'd ever sell the things we feature - and since we’re all pretty avid secondhand shoppers ourselves, we’ve been aching to say yes!! And so finally: The Second Edit is our answer.

Nearly everything here has appeared on The Mom Edit. When possible, we’re trying to link back to the original article so you can see it in context (but no promises - we’re trying to keep this space relatively easy, otherwise it’ll never get updated). We think of this as a very small, very edited Poshmark. We’re not selling these pieces because they didn’t work (pieces that didn’t work got returned ages ago), we’re selling them because they no longer fit (size/lifestyle/something). I do hope someone gets to love the heck out of my too-small IRO leather jacket. :)

What "Pre-Loved" Means Here

Most pieces in The Second Edit have been worn a few times - some just once or twice, some were worn for a single season. A few still have tags on. Every listing tells you which, in plain language, along with a condition grade (Excellent, Very Good, or Good) and photos of any wear. If a cuff has a pull or a spare button is missing, you'll see it before you buy.

Each listing includes fabric content from the label, care instructions, and original price (if we remember it!).

Two things we don't do: we don't sell gifted or press items, and we don't take consignment or donations. Everything here came out of our own closets and was purchased with our own money.

Pre-Loved Coats

We're launching with coats because coats are the biggest space problem!! They're bulky, seasonal, and this particular fashion blogger has a MAJOR weakness for them. S has accumulated coats at a rate that no closet can absorb. The coats here are pretty dreamy, and include wool topcoats, cocoon coats, puffers, trenches, camel coats, and the occasional statement coat, mostly in small and small-petite sizing, with a mix of designer and mid-range brands.

If you've followed our outerwear coverage, you'll recognize many of them. Our editors' guide to the five coat styles that get you through winter explains the categories; our cocoon coat deep dive covers why that silhouette is the one we wear most; and for brand-specific fit notes, the J.Crew coat try-on is a good reference for how J.Crew outerwear runs.

What's Coming Next

Jackets are next! Then (I thiiink) it’ll be sweaters, then bags. Each category gets its own banner on this page when it launches. If you want a heads-up, the newsletter is the fastest way to hear.
