We have been waiting over a year for these seriously cool playing cards to come back into stock! Featuring the work of Hilma af Klint, this deck is, quite literally, a work of art.
Born in Sweden in 1862, af Klint was a formally trained artist whose work combined geometry, color, and natural forms in abstract ways - predating the abstract art movement entirely (she even predates Kandinsky!). Her work was so radical for its time that she instructed it not be exhibited publicly until years after her death.
There’s a playful, almost Alice in Wonderland quality to her art here: swooping lines, floating shapes, and unexpected color that feels more “Curiouser and curiouser!” than serious. 😉
